Joel Cheesman joined the Jobing team in 2009 as Senior Vice President, Technology Services; focusing his expertise on enhancing Jobing’s activities with online marketing including SEO, SEM, mobile solutions, content, blogs, video publishing and interactive marketing.
Joel began working in the recruitment space in 1997 for one of the industy’s first job boards, e.span (later re-branded under the name JobOptions), a sister company of NAS Recruitment Communications that was later acquired by Spherion.
In 2002, Joel transitioned to a locally-focused job board in the Cleveland market where he led and managed all components of the marketing function. His passion for this niche grew and motivated him to launched the Cheesman Group in 2005 to provide consulting services to employment-related businesses interested in expanding their marketing presence online.
As part of his own marketing efforts for the Cheesman Group, Joel launched Cheezhead.com as a recruitment industry blog to help drive interests of his business. What began as a marketing tool for his company became one of the most recognized and respected blogs in the recruitment industry. Joel gained notoriety as one of the most widely-read bloggers on emerging recruitment issues. His blog was the recipient of Recruiting.com’s Best Technology Recruitment Blog award in 2005, the award for Best Recruiting Blog in 2007 and ranked at or near No. 1 on Fistful of Talent’s Power Rankings through much of 2008-2009.
In addition to serving as Jobing’s SVP of Technology Services, Joel is a recognized professional speaker in the industry with topics focusing on recruitment best practices and online marketing strategies. Joel has been featured in Fast Company magazine, as well as Workforce Management, AIRS, Crain’s Business, BusinessWeek Magazine, Resumes for Dummies, U.S. News & World Report and The Wall Street Journal .
In his free time Joel enjoys spending time with his wife and two beautiful children; and while he currently resides in the Phoenix-area, remains and avid fan of Cleveland sports teams.
